I went back down to the wood shop and cut out the parts for the framework underneath the kantele and also for the tailpiece that holds the strings. Here is a photo of the underside:
These parts are all made out of poplar.
Here is a photo of the tailpiece. This is made out of an old redwood scrap I've been dragging about for the past 100 years or so:
I'm going to clean up these pieces and then glue and clamp the whole thing together. I'll show you what it looks like tomorrow.
